Lumia Nocito is a New York City based artist and currently a student at The Cooper Union School of Art. Impressive already in a stand alone form, Nocito's work holds an unusual level of sophistication and conceptual awareness which is only expected to further develop. Nocito has the uncanny ability to shoot characters, with whom she shares a personal relationship, as wider motifs of subtle sociological themes rather than abrasive snapshots of individual memory. Her organic, free style shooting process helps translate these real life connections into a pictorial sense of intimacy and deeply ingrained aura of mystery. Nocito applies a documentary photography approach to the unique subjects and scenes, offering viewers an intimate glimpse at the artist’s muses, and also into her mind.

Lumia is a photo and personal assistant to the photographer Petra Collins, as well as a photographer at IMG. She has been interviewed for Adidas x Urban Outfitters' We The Future Campaign, I_d Magazine's Female Gaze Issue, Refinery 29,  Galore x Material Girl, and Nu-Modé Magazine.

Her work has been featured in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Juxtapoz Magazine,, Galore Magazine, DROME Magazine, Querencia Studio, 10Deep, Clique Media Group’s Obsessee, and is a contributor to VFILES x Kevin Amato's Womb Global.
